...that is the issue; our device lacks PS and it looks like DCPS 
queries the device to see if it has PS.  I erroneously assumed it 
would still receive the job and print junk instead of just sitting 
in queue waiting for a PS device.
 
You would have thought it would log an error with something useful, 
like, "Device does not support PS."
 
We ordered a PS chip, thanks again.
