Yes, I have good experiences with 'random' drives from Ebay as well.
I bid for the HP or Compaq ones by minor preference, but they all come
from the same few factories in general.
The only problem I have had was with IBM labeled drives formatted to
520 byte sectors. I managed to reformat many to 512, but not all, so I
will not buy any IBM drives any more, just in case.
And also be aware of Seagate LCV drives. They are 1.6" high. Typically
cheap but not so useful. Right now:
"Seagate 73gb ST173404LCV 10K SCSI 80-Pin 1.6" Lot of 10" = $120
The sleds / trays are the hardest to find.
If someone has a lot, or finds a 'lot' on Ebay then please let us know
here, or Email some possibly interested parties like Brain or myself
directly.
Let's not bid against each other ?!
Hein.
