[Info-vax] A POP oddity, moves messages to MAIL without reading them

IMAP leaves messages in the "INBOX" (or NEWMAIL to be precise) after
they have been read, but are marked as read.

Was testing connection via mobile thethering, and decided to

TELNET myhost 110

USER myuser
PASS mypassword
LIST

Instead of listing about 100 messages, it listed 547 of them.
(that list is a message number (1 to 547) and the message size. This
command took forever to complete.

Then, I tried RETR 547 to see what the newest message was, and I got an
error about insufficient virtual memory.

So I quit.

Upon coming back to my real mac, I found out that POP had moved all the
mail in NEWMAIL to READ, despite having no succesful READ operation done
 during that POP session. (and certaintly not read hundreds of messages,
I only attempred to read one).

Mail services will be the first thing coming off VMS when I get a new
server in the coming months/weeks.
