Overlays - aargh. They were "fun". I remember using 2 or 3 overlays for 
a proprietary network diagnostic. A 16k or so data buffer, overlaid with 
code when the buffer was not in use.

Company was Crosfield, who used embedded pdp1, rt11 and rsx extensively 
in their scanner and page make up equipment. Sadly no longer with us...
