[Info-vax] OCILIB install on OpenVMS?

As an alternative to using the Oracle precompilers, I've been looking
at the Oracle Call Interface (OCI), and specifically at OCILIB, an
open source library of OCI wrapper routines.
(For more info, you can refer to: http://orclib.sourceforge.net/ )

According to the web site, OCILIB has been "validated" on OpenVMS (as
well as many other operating systems). However, I've yet to find any
documentation about how to install or configure OCILIB on VMS. The
documentation covers Windows and Unix installs very well, but nothing
for VMS.

I've contacted the author (Vincent Rogier), and he said that a number
of VMS users have successfully used the package, but he could give me
no further information.

If anyone has information or experience about installing or using
OCILIB on VMS, it would be appreciated.
I'd be interested in using it on both Alpha and Integrity systems
under OpenVMS v8.3. On Alpha, we are using the Oracle 8i client (yes,
I know it's old). On Integrity, the Oracle 10g client. In both
cases, we are hitting Oracle 10g databases located on other (Linux and
Windows) systems.

Thanks very much for any info.
