It has been some time since I worked at Intel (FAB 6), however given
how the WorkStream app controlled pretty much every aspect of the chip
manufacturing process, I am not really surprised to hear that they are
still using it (inertia is a very powerful thing, or maybe "if it isnt
broke, then dont fix it!!"), or that they are considering migrating to
Itanium. This option is probably considerably less painful than
trying to move to a completely new application and control process.
