The VMS Freeware CD V6 directory [KP_CLUSTERTOOLS] 
(http://digiater.nl/openvms/freeware/v60/kp_clustertools/) has a DCL 
command procedure SHADOW$CONFIG.COM which puts shadowset info from 
lexical functions into DCL symbols. The command procedure 
SHADOW$DISPLAY.COM provides an example of its use. Might save you some work.
