Indeed. While there might be some rationale for encoding stuff outside
of 7-bit printable ASCII, a typical usenet post is 7-bit printable
ASCII, or at least it should be. Probably most people read with the
same software they post with, and don't even realise what characters
they are sending to the NNTP server. :-(
I have an EDT macro to convert the stuff when I reply to a post. This
is something I shouldn't have to do, though.
