The message posted by cluster Carl may have had a "quoted printable"
attribute, but the actual DCL code in the message was not mangled by the
quoted printable mechanism. I checked the source. There was one line
above the code that was split and thus terminated with the = sign.


I hate to say it, but I would suggest you at least move from the 1980s
to the 1990s and have a news reader that accepts current text encodings.

Netscape/Mozilla on VMS both have a news reader in it, and it supports
the quoted printable mechanism.
