If I did not specifically sign up for a newsletter then it is spam. As
I wrote, I have 282 email addresses that are forwarded to real
accounts. If each company I gave an address to decided to sign me up
for a weekly or even a monthly newsletter then that would be a lot of
mail that I just do not want.

About 6 months bought a lot of coffee K-Cups from a company named
Tweed and Hickory. When I placed the order I specifically wrote that
the email address was for the purpose of processing the order and the
address was not signing up for any newsletters or promotions. For
about 5 months they honoured that request and my wife and I were
preparing another order. Then they started blasting out a newsletter
using a spammer called constantcontact.com. They send out anywhere
from 3 to 15 emails a week with special promotions, one day I received
7 identical emails within 45 minutes thanking me for signing up for
their newsletter. That is spam. Even if it was just one newsletter
then that one newsletter would have been spam. I'm not buying any more
coffee from Tweed and Hickory.

The latest email I received to the address I gave to Mindq/Encompass
was (I modified the from address and replaced some of the letters in
the .HTML file itself);

   Subject: fzb john
From: Keri Holgate <abcxx at yahoo.com>
   Date: Mon, 01 Aug 2010 22:16:05 -0000
   Customer-Id: 106744
   Abuse: abuse at ispfr.net

Clearly someone at Mindq and/or Encompass did not keep my email
address secure.
