I dont like quoted printable. They should have just allowed Latin-1 text
(8 bit) in the specs. Unfortunatly, they didn't.
Quoted printable isn't new. It has been around since the early 1990s as
I recall. There comes a time where one has to accept new technologies.
Quoted Printable, Javascipt, Ajax etc.
In fact, PMDF on VMS was one of the first ones to support and generate
quoted printable emails.
Same thing for binary stuff on NNTP. there was the uuencode, then the
base64 mime, and then came yenc. Lots of complainst about yenc because
at the time, only a few newsreaders supported it. But eventually all the
ones (except thunderbird) supported it and there are very few complaints
about yenc binaries anymore because it has become the de-factor standard.
Is quoted printable necessary ? No. But it is there and in widespread
use. You can't stop it. Sorry to say this: but learn to live with it.
I did.
