You should investigate this.
It could be your NNTP provider who chops off the high order bit of every
byte. Or it could be the link to your "terminal" which isn't 8 bit clean
and while the data in the file may be intact, when it gets to your
terminal, it has its high order bit chopped off.
You should make sure that if you are using a character cell software,
that your terminal emulator (or actual terminal) is 8 bit clean and that
your terminal is SET TERM/EIGHBIT/FRAME=8/PARITY=NONE
