You don't have *67 where you live? I threaten every commercial
telephone spammer the first time they call and have had no further
problems yet.
Of course,you can't do much about political spamming since the
politicians have left themselves out. But for charity calls, most
of those are done by a third party and you can demand that they
not call you again for the same charity. There are also don't-
call-me lists that predate the national registery and most charities
will honor them.
I did have to threaten my alma-mata twice that I would send them
money only if they stopped calling. That worked, until they
re-organized the university such that my alma-mata no longer exists.
Now I can't give it money.
