If you have a logical SORTSHR pointing to a private copy, why does the
linker know of both the private and standard copies ?

It appears to honour your request though and ignore the "real" copy,
otherwise you'd have a tond of multiply defined symbols.


And to Sylvain:

Wouldn't it be simpler to link the program on the target 7.3 system ?
