Seems like I don't have enough imagination.
I just got confirmation that MRU cannot load a tape directly when given its 
name. One must issue a FIND command to identify the slot.

Apparently the MDMS product can do all this and more. But I'm not licensed 
for it.
No big deal, I have DCL !
