It's all about busioness.  If the academics want to keep pushing the
envelope, that's fine.  After all, that is their business and how they
attract customers (read students).  But if your business is selling
something other than fancy web pages with limited readership then you
need to concentrate on what makes you profitable.  That almost never
is pushing the Web envelope.
