2/3 to 3/4 of the cost of most software projects is in maintenance.
I'd pay up front to have a system that follows standards in order
to keep that cost down. (I've fixed a lot of code over the years
that would have never needed to be fixed if the author had followed
an available standard.)
When you miust do something the standard doesn't cover, then fine,
go outside th standard. When you go out of your way to make sure
something doesn't work that was covered by the existing standard,
I don't need you, and I won't buy your products.
