Sorry Jan-Erik, I don't know enough to answer your questions.  I do 
know that I am using LPD protocol in DCPS with these printers.  If 
your unidentified larger Xerox Phasers that work with DCPS are 6180s, 
I would like to know more.

Let me make my statement another way:

I now recall that the 6180 threw postscript errors when DCPS tried to 
print to it.
