ActiveMQ has several client libraries, as do many of the AMQP
implementations, one of the most interesting being RabbitMQ which is
written in Erlang. Apache Qpid has two implementations of AMQP, one
in C/C++ and the other in Java. The client languages are irrelevant,
be the P languages, Ruby, Scala, Java, C#, COBOL, C/C++, you name it.
Been there, done that, with multiple implementations on multiple
platforms, one of which just happened to be OpenVMS running two
different implementations of the AMQP standard.
