If you're worried about power consumption, the system definitely isn't
for you. AFAICT, the CPUs are on all the time without any power
management whatsoever.

Maybe you want to check what was state-of-the-art in the (non-mobile)
PeeCee sector back then to get an idea what you can expect from a -
even half way recent - Alpha in terms of power saving features.
