I still have some studying to do before I will be able to boot.

The only thing I changed by hand was VAXCLUSTER=2 on LIVVAX. Then I
rebooted it and it set itself up as a 1-node cluster. Then I ran the
CLUSTER_CONFIG_LAN procedure several times. I had to set up LIVVAX as a
boot server and set up the LAN for cluster communications. Then it
allowed me to add PEAR as a satellite.

At that time, I could boot PEAR off of LIVVAX over the LAN. The first
time it booted it ran AUTOGEN, so all those parameters you wrote were
set automatically. But then it started complaining about licenses. I had
to add the VAXCLUSTER license and modify the VAX-VMS license as you
suggested, so that both LIVVAX and PEAR had their own separate VAX-VMS
license.

After that PEAR booted right into DECwindows. *Very* nice. Now I just
need to find one of those circular mice with the two cylinders . . . :-)

The 4000/90 has 64MB and the 4000 VLC has 24MB.
