OK, interesting. I am surprised I never hearda bout that back in my
Martin Marietta days. Anyway.......

VAX/VMS 6.2

Currently being redisigned to eliminate the "mainframe" components.
Some has already been moved to Windows but remains "functionaly
compatable with the VAX/VMS version."

No, I don't think that makes them "mainstream" with the DOD.

As i have already said, there are definitely a number of legacy VMS
systems in DOD (mostly seem to be VAX) but they are either being
replaced by non-VMS systems in their next iteration or they are of
such limited use they just plod along as they are (like the simulation
system managed out of Moffit Field with additinal systems in at least
two other military installations I am awarte of.) It is a pretty
safe bet that HP is not providing OS Support for anything that old
and even less likely that any contracting office would approve the
funding to buy it.
