Fred:

Thank you very much. Your reply was exactly what I needed. I have run
some tests and everything is looking good for tomorrow.

That's good to know, but I will dispense with this step because I
already have a 2nd disk that will be in the system when I boot it. After
it boots, I will remove that disk and replace it with the first test
disk, and do the following:

$ INITIALIZE DKA100: I64DATA
$ MOUNT/NOASSIST DKA100: I64DATA
$! I have prepared a directory, DKA0:[SCRATCH] with a data file in it
$ BACKUP/VERIFY DKA0:[SCRATCH] DKA100:[SCRATCH]
$ DIR/SIZE DKA100:[SCRATCH]
$ SHOW DEVICE/FULL DKA100:
$ DISMOUNT DKA100:

Then I will repeat the whole procedure for each of the 11 disks.
I tried this several times with the extra disk I already own (HP 73GB
U320 15K) and it works great. The disks I am buying are a little
different (MAXTOR 146GB U320 10K). I'm assuming they will work fine, but
I want to be sure.

I'm not so interested in running any exhaustive surface tests or
anything like that. Just like you wrote - initialize, mount, and get
data on and off.

Nathan
