[Info-vax] OT: Wrong technological decisions

I seem to be a great selector if platforms.... Every choice I have made
in my life as turned out to be the wrong decision.

Started off with an early MacPlus. Then, Apple went downhill.
Then, I chose the up and coming Digital. Big time into it. We all knwo
where this went.

I also chose PSION PDAs. great devices with real multitasking on a 80286
in early 1990s. PSION got affraid of Microsoft and abandonned the market
(after having totally rewritten the OS and giving it to Nokia who
rebranded it "Symbian").

With the demise of VMS, I chose to return to Apple which is now the new
"up and coming".

Yesterday, Apple announces they are pulling out of the server market.
They pretend they will continue to develop OS-X Server to be installed
on MacMinis and the desktop MacPros. (both of which lacks data centre
features such as LOM (which even the DS10L had). That development wil be
slowed to a crawl for sure.

I guess that leaves Linux as the one viable solution. At least migrating
from one unix to another won't be as painful. But just as I started to
get confortable with OS-X server and all its implementation details, I
now need to stop this and focus on develooping marketable skills.

Perhaps flipping burgers at McDonalds is't so bad after all.
