But Kerry Main, the HP employee, has to toe the corporate line and issue
statements like he does because this is likely part of a script that

still attached to VMS will cherish their jobs and not detract from what

Although I have never spoken with Mr Main, I am pretty confident that he
is very much aware of how out of touch with customer concertns HP's
pre-scripted speech is.


Consider that you and I have the freedom to say what we think. Mr Main
(or any remaining HP employee) doesn't.


And just like a politician needs to always find a positive spin after
some event, HP employees have to find a positive spin about HP's
enterprise business.

While I agree in principle, there is a significant difference. A USA to
USA transfer would likely have allowed a much greater amount of time for
knowledge transfer and training of the newbies. A USA to USA transfer
would likely have allowed existing facilities and testinfg centre to
remain intact, whereas a move to another continuent required the centre
be dismantled, packed and re-assembled in the new location. And the
rumours are that it didn't ALL get transfered to the new location.
