It may be the gaffe you think it is, though just above that it also
says, "You might want to associate DCL symbols with the destination
printers. . . ." It doesn't seem certain to me that the writer believes
XYZPRINT is a logical name, though it is an ambiguous formulation and
should be fixed.

In any case, the document shipping with TCP/IP Services v5.4 dated
September 2003 has the same language, so your news of decline is a bit late.
