The hope/plan was to allow it to be used for the transition to 
PC-legacy-free.  A hardware problem prevented reliable operation and 
respinning it for a feature that wasn't required...  in any case.  For 
hobbiest use - just do what I do and find an add-in PCI card.

But yes, in the back of our minds was the chance to torture JF :-)
