The big (and perhaps only) advantage to bound sets is that you can add
a device to an existing volume or set whenever you need to. No copy-
and-wait step. Almost full? Just add another.
I have no experience with host-based RAID except for shadowing. If
you know how big a set you want before you set it up, RAID 5 should
theoretically give you both performance and redundancy.
