Always have a session open. When the attack begins, just type TCPIP SHOW
DEV even if it doesn't echo (and don't forget to press return). The
command will eventually get executed.

You could also set that session SET PROC/PRIO=16. This way, when you
type in the command, you will have equal/better priority than the rogue
processes that consume your resources.
