FWIW, the GD lib in PHP on VMS does a good job creating thumbnails for the
images I upload to my image gallery and for my blog.  Instead of trying to
port one or more of the packages mentioned in this thread (and I really do
like ImageMagick on other platforms, but the port for VMS is *OLD*), give
GD a look-see.
