[Info-vax] audit and accounting data into tabular or cross-platform format

A customer wants us to be able to generate reports on various data
from accounting and audit records (and actually some merging data from
both).  I suppose we could put together programs that parse the output
data either from ANALYZE/AUDIT and ACCOUNTING commands or (for the
former) using $FORMAT_AUDIT and doing the parsing within the program
generating the output.  I'm wondering if someone has already done this
though.

Any freeware/cheapware way to either dump to XML/CSV format so some
reporting package can read it (or DB import it for that purpose) or
freeform more user friendly reports direct from the two data files?  I
was surprised not to see something along those lines in freeware, so
maybe its a bigger task than it seems.

Budget for this is somewhere between nil and a good steak dinner, so
expensive commercial products are unfortunately not an option.
