[Info-vax] bizarre problem displaying JPEG files with CSWB

Displaying JPEG files with CSWB (with file:///, not http://; transport
LOCAL or TCPIP doesn't matter), I find that files above a certain size
will not display, but the time taken to read the file is what it should
be, scroll bars of the right size appear etc---everything works OK,
except the screen is blank.

The strange thing is that this happens only when the display is directed
to a certain machine X, no matter where the browser process is running.
All other combinations: browser running on X and displaying on Y,
browser running on Y and displaying on Y etc work---running on X
displaying on X and running on Y displaying on X don't.

What is even stranger is that X is the most powerful machine: 2 GB RAM
in a DS10. (To be sure, the monitor on X is running at a higher
resolution, but I don't see how that could be the problem, especially
considering that the files display fine on an ALPHAstation 500/500 with
just 288 MB RAM (wherever the browser process is running).)
