I've now see a number of articles that mention that the cuts made by
Hurd may have allowed him to meet the quartely predictions, but also
setup HP for a big fall.

He decimated R&D down to only 2% of revenus. And even if Apotheker were
to re-instate R&D budgets today, it would take years for new products to
come out.

Not sure how much time to give Apotheker to outline HP's real strategy
with the IA64/HP-UX/VMS/NSK ecosystem. But considering the reorgs he is
making, considering he sidelined Livermore, I am almost tempted to give
him a chance.

He might have to wait until the spat with Oracle is decided once and for
all before making a final decision on IA64.

or he might have the guts to put BCS/IA64 out of its misery and move to
Linux with lots of HP middlware.

La Carly was clueless.
Hurd was ruthless

Not sure what attribute to gove Apotheker yet. I get the sense he will
be quite different.
