In the short term yes. But maybe in a few weeks, people will have
forgotten about HP exiting the PC business and contineu to buy. It is
just bad timing to make this announcement just before "back to school" rush.

Where the self fullfilling prophecy will happen is that HP will have to
offer more price incentives/discounts to maintain unit sales as well as
maintain shelf space at stores. And that will further drive down margins.

One problem with the purchase of unknown software firms is that peoople
have no idea of what software packages HP is getting. And Apotheker
hasn't given direction to what type oenterprise software HP is seeking
to buy/build. A competitor to SAP ? A competitor to Oracle apps ? Or
more like network/systems management software ?
