A large business may pay attention to this, but the last time I
wandered through a store I still saw Compaq being sold. The
average consumer didn't seem to be paying any attention to Compaq
having been bought by HP. It seemed at a casual glance that HP
was selling Compaq branded less capable systems marketed toward
casual home users and HP branded more capable systems marketed toward
bussiness and more serious users.
So if HP is in trouble, it is just a matter of who is going to buy
them, and I agree that Oracle is not a likely answer.
