Well, a lot of investment will be lost if they let go of their
proprietary OS and middleware. But they need to look at future
potential for thsoe products.
It would not surprise me to seee HPVM moved to X86 and given
"enterprise" features that beat VMware. And I wouldn't be surprised to
see HPVM on x86 provide IA64 emulation to run "legacy" HP-UX , VS etc
during a transition.
It really all depends on what HP rea;ly wants to do.
