[Info-vax] PHP_SESSION.EXE problem with HP CSWS_PHP V2.2

I'm not seeing anyone with this same problem by searching so I thought
I'd ask here.

Our test Alpha (V8.3, current ECOs, TCPIP V5.6 ECO 5) was upgraded to
CSWS V2.2 Update 1 and PHP V2.2 yesterday while testing the range bug
mitigation options. That didn't change anything, but it did break a
2006 vintage PMWiki test setup (no great loss) that I thought I'd get
working again. So we updated it to current stable, and it now fails
with a "PHP is lacking session support" error. There are requirements
in PMWiki current that had us enabling PHP_SESSION in the PHP ini
file.

The Apache error logs showed the following:

PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Invalid library (maybe not a PHP library)
'php_session.exe' in Unknown on line 0

The PHP.INI file has the PHP_SESSION line (and many others)
uncommented; none of the others gives an error. I extracted a fresh
copy of this file from the HP install kit and it compared exactly; all
directory and file protections were confirmed, and a quick ANAL/IMAGE
run just to confirm there was no internal corruption. All clean. I
then removed CSWS_PHP, rebooted, and reinstalled it, same symptoms.

So before I replace PHP with Mark Berryman's much newer port, has
anyone seen this kind of behavior before with the HP kit?
