My guess is that the department being axed (aka: Palm) looked at their
remaining budget until end of Q4 and found they could get another
production run in and sell those like hotcakes just to prove Apotheker
wrong (that there was no interest in it).

When you are assured of losing your job, you can afford such antics.

It could also have to do with contracts signed with the manufacturer
which would cost more to cancel than to contiue with another production
run even if the units are sold at a loss.


At the end of the day, the Palm division only has a few weeks to
convince Apotheker to reverse his decision otherwise they are all out of
a job (except for a few who remain to honour warrantees etc).
