I had Verison providing my T1 loop for years as it was the ONLY option at
the time for high speed internet where I reside.   Finally, Optimum came
through with fibre for Cable TV and internet.  It still took them a time
to realize what "business" internet meant.

Anyway, Verison promised FiOS here for an eternity.  Every time I ask, I
hear, it's coming in the next 6 months.  Verison is just not an internet
provider.  They want too much to be a mobile phone co.  Better returns!

The cable companies are and were well ahead of the curve.  The US gov't 
gave the phone co.s all sorts of tax breaks, etc. to moderize their in-
frastructure but they just sat on their hands while the cable co.s took
the lead.  Competition rulez!

My son, at Penn State, has Comcast for his cable TV/Internet provider.
Too many warts.  If people were force into one-Comcast-fits-all, there
would be a satellite dish on every rooftop. ;)
