   Alias?  What is this alias of which you speak?

   Since you are a newbie, explain what function you are actually trying
   to carry out in as plain English as you can, and we can help you figure 
   out how that is done on VMS.

   Or at least tell us what specificaly what it is on the UNIX,
   Windows, or other system, that you are trying to emulate.
