Precisely. Well, FF allows me to load add-ons that
will make some of this go better (I hope!).

As Paul surmised, my corporate PC is behind a corporate
firewall which is hosted on a Windows server and
examines all http and https requests, blocking
"inappropriate" sites, etc. As a result, I can't use
Thunderbird over port 80 to, e.g., news.individual.net,
since the conversation with the news server isn't
proper html. (I've tried, never found the magic set
of keys before giving up...)

I'll put in some extra effort and attempt to keep
my posts legible.

   Thanks for the feedback, Ken

P.S. And neither Wordpad nor Notepad has an embedded
spell-checker as far as I can tell.

P.P.S. UAAR? Couldn't find a meaning that matched the
       context.
