Payola!  My FiL was a QC inspector for some of the companies selling to
the gov't.  Whenever he'd found issues and reported them, he was dealt 
with by a mafia-like group of thugs telling him to look the other way!
If elevator inspection is like proNJ auto inspection (where they drive
the car at 10MPH, hit the brakes and if it stops, you've passed), then
I will continue to take the stairs.

I've climbed the stairs of lady Liberty and I've climbed to the top of
many a mountain.  I will take the stairs whenever there's the option.

Lazy.  I even walk on the UP escalator.  It helps to keep my pedometer
ticking.
