The last time I looked at my router's logs they showed three or four
connection attempts per minute. There are clearly a large number of
people with nothing better to do than try to break into somebody's computer!
If you fail to take appropriate measures you will someday find that
someone has subverted your computer and that it has spent the last few
hours, or days, pumping out spam.
