Phillip,

In the second case, BACKUP does use RMS, with all of its facilities
(e.g., BACKUP .... node"username
password"::device:filename.type;version/SAVE_SET does work). In some
cases, I have documented that this can be used to improve performance.
To be specific, one can do the BACKUP to the local node via DECnet and
get improved performance (if the buffering factors and extend size;
particularly the extend size are higher for FAL).
