It is still in the grace period.  If you actually go to 
openvmshobbyist.org you get Godaddy's web parking page, which reads at the 
top: NOTICE: This domain name expired on 02/06/2011 and is pending renewal 
or deletion

Did you ask Godaddy if they'll take your money to simply renew the domain
(without change of ownership or anything else) ?
