This was originally true.

But over the years, VMS adopted much of open sourced stuff and
components such as X11 which came from external sources.

TCPIP Services containes much software which was conceived on Unix and
which moves wuickly in Unixland.


And now, the original elves and super heros have been replaced by unkown
drones  who are not yet up to snuff, as evidenced by the types of
problems found in 8.4.


Note: this issue would have better odds of resolution if the "user
groups" of VMS, HP-UX and Tandem were to work together. On the other
hand, I don't think that there are many "NSK" customers on self support.


The message should be pretty clear ny now: Move on.

My remaining VMS nodes are no longer exposed to the internet, so I don't
have to worry about patches.
