I *suspect* that this is all about shrinking budgets. Since Alpha's
murder will mark its 10th anniversary on june 25 2011, HP is likely to
begin phasing out  software upgrades for Alpha. While OS upgrades might
still be done, I suspect that middleware and applications won't get much
attention.
