Well, yes, VUE morphed into CDE. I can't say I heard anyone cheering for
CDE either. Most people were not that happy, or impressed by Motif in
general.
By now it is more or less a thing of the past, except for in VMS
perhaps. All vendors except HP have stopped using CDE, I believe. That's
how popular it was.

Oh, I don't deny that there must exist such persons. That does not say
much though. A majority they are (were) not.
