If you're going to crunch numbers, use the number crunching language.
VAX Fortran has built in support for 4, 8, and 16 byte floating
point. Made our life easier.
But 64 bits is only 8 bytes, which all the native compilers seem to
support. Did you mean 128 bit (H_FLOAT)?
