I didn't notice this much until I configured a satellite.  Boot servers 
would rarely shutdown and if it was planned it was often a cluster 
reboot and if not planned then I had other worries.  But with a 
satellite booting once per day, one wants to avoid merges.  
SYSHUTDWN.COM is the way to go.  Unconditionally dismounting a disk with 
open files could lead to them being in an unknown and/or inconsistent 
state; maybe it's good one is forced to think about it.
